Firefighter 2 80 hrs: FF 102

The fire fighter II course is structured for competency-based group instruction of the fire fighter II information presented in the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA), Essentials of fire fighting, fourth Edition. It addresses the objectives covered in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 1001, 1997 edition, Chapter 4, with the exception of those objectives related to Competencies for the First Responder at the Operational Level, of NFPA 472, Chapter 3, Standard for professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents.

Fire Officer 1 40 hrs: FF 104

The course material covered in this class fulfills the requirements for fire Officer I as per the current edition of NFPA 1021, Standard on Fire Officer Professional qualifications. In addition to the information required for certification, useful information and practical applications is emphasized to assist the participant in mastering the material. The information and practical applications help the participant understand the material presented and become a more effective fire officer.

Fire Officer II program addresses the "real world contemporary issues" that pose a challenge to the supervisory leadership skills of the first-line officer involved in the administrative/operational issues at the company/organizational level. As a result, the lessons within this program are designed to stimulate critical/creative thought processes toward what "we should be doing versus what we are actually doing" as company officers. Specific topics include fire behavior review, investigator ethics, construction, ignition sources, reading fire patterns and scene reconstruction. Special topics on electrical fire investigation, woodland fires, vehicle fires, mobile home fires, RFF & boat & ship fires. Additional topics include special emphasis on fire scene documentation and extinguishing/alert systems.
